Even though this is only a novella, it never feels rushed, and the story flows naturally from beginning to end.

I also appreciated how approachable Powerful by Lauren Roberts remains. The world-building is introduced without overwhelming the reader, the dialogue feels natural, and the emotional moments are given enough space to breathe. It’s the kind of book that works particularly well as an audiobook because the narrative is so easy to follow.

Rather than changing the way I viewed the story or its characters, it felt like a gentle extension of what I had already experienced in Powerless.

If you’re already a fan of the series, I think you’ll enjoy revisiting Ilya and seeing familiar faces again. Just don’t expect a companion novella that dramatically reshapes the story. For me, Powerful by Lauren Roberts was an enjoyable addition to the series, even if it didn’t leave the lasting impression I had hoped for.
