📝 First Impressions The Witches is probably one of the Roald Dahl books that best demonstrates just how dark children’s fiction can become without losing its sense of fun. The premise is wonderfully disturbing: witches are real, they live among…
📝 First Impressions I have always had a soft spot for Roald Dahl’s books. There is something immediately recognisable about the way he tells a story: mischievous, slightly rebellious, sometimes surprisingly dark, but always written with an understanding of how…
📝 First Impressions Necropolis by Florin Pîtea is one of those books I have to look at a little differently now, simply because so much time has passed since I read it. I read it back in 2018, and I…
📝 First Impressions Lady Mechanika #0 caught my attention almost immediately because it combines two things I find difficult to resist visually: a Victorian-inspired world and steampunk. The machinery, elaborate costumes, strange technology and darker nineteenth-century atmosphere give the comic…

đź“ť First Impressions Reading ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King felt like watching one of the greatest horror writers in history discover exactly what made his storytelling so unique. Considering that this was only Stephen King’s second published novel, it’s an…
đź“ť First Impressions Revisiting Carrie by Stephen King always feels like returning to one of the foundations of modern horror. Although I’ve read this novel several times over the years and watched multiple film adaptations, the original story continues to…
đź“ť First Impressions The Dragon’s Promise had a difficult task from the very beginning: following a novel as charming and memorable as Six Crimson Cranes. Thankfully, Elizabeth Lim doesn’t simply try to recreate the magic of the first book. Instead,…
đź“ť First Impressions Nettle & Bone immediately stood out to me because it doesn’t feel like a traditional fantasy novel. Instead of introducing a fearless chosen one destined to save the world, Nettle & Bone follows a quiet, overlooked princess…
