📖 About G. P. Ermin
G. P. Ermin is a Romanian science fiction author whose work combines speculative ideas, artificial intelligence, philosophy, religion, satire and social commentary.
His fiction frequently explores humanity’s relationship with technology, the nature of consciousness and the consequences of decisions that appear rational but lead to profoundly disturbing outcomes.
Before establishing himself in Romanian speculative fiction, Ermin worked in several fields, including education, translation and law. His intellectual interests extend across history, philosophy and literature, influences reflected in the themes of his books.
His earlier published work includes Dosar penal nr. 666/AS/2066 (Drac vs. Dumnezeu), released by Neverland in 2017.
He subsequently published the satirical science fiction novella Făt-Frumos vs. Darth Vader (2020), which received a Vladimir Colin Award, followed by Evanghelia după Crist 2.0 (2021) and Ultimul înger – Prima I.A. (2022).
These last two novels form the beginning of his planned I.A. Trilogy, exploring artificial intelligence through philosophical and religious questions.
Ermin’s later works include ApIscalips (2024), developed in collaboration with Andreea Sterea, and Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul (2026), co-written with Japanese author Kazuo Mori.
On BookFairy, I’m exploring G. P. Ermin’s books and the ideas behind them, with particular attention to Romanian science fiction that challenges readers intellectually rather than relying entirely on action and spectacle.
💜 Why I Read G. P. Ermin
My connection with G. P. Ermin is a rather unusual one.
I’ve known him for approximately twenty-four years. We first met at a rock festival, and our paths have crossed many times since, mostly at concerts and other festivals.
And yet, despite knowing him for so long, I had absolutely no idea he was writing books.
I discovered his literary work almost by accident, after noticing one of his novels published by Crux Publishing, an independent Romanian publishing house founded by a friend of mine.
Naturally, I became curious.
The first book of his that I reviewed on BookFairy was Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul, written with Kazuo Mori.
I initially chose it partly because it was short. At only 144 pages, I thought I could finish it in an afternoon and move on to something else.
Instead, I discovered one of the most original science fiction concepts I’d encountered in recent years.
A stock exchange where books are traded as financial assets. An artificial intelligence responsible for evaluating literary worth. A society in which literature has become an investment rather than simply a cultural achievement.
Those ideas fascinated me.
What impressed me most was that the book didn’t merely invent an unusual futuristic system. It used that system to raise serious questions about creativity, cultural memory, artificial intelligence and the value of literature.
That is precisely the kind of science fiction I love: imaginative, intelligent and capable of making me question things long after I’ve finished reading.
📚 Books Reviewed on BookFairy
📖 Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul (2026)
By G. P. Ermin and Kazuo Mori
Set several centuries in the future, Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul imagines a world in which books have become financial assets traded on a Literary Stock Exchange.
An artificial intelligence known as the Librarian evaluates manuscripts and determines which works deserve to enter the market.
When the Librarian encounters a manuscript that challenges its understanding of literary value, the story begins to explore the relationship between art, economics, culture and machine intelligence.
What I loved most was the originality of the central idea.
The book uses its speculative setting to ask questions about creativity and cultural survival, without reducing those questions to simple answers.
Despite its short length, it left a lasting impression on me.

One of G. P. Ermin’s major literary projects is the planned I.A. Trilogy.
The series explores artificial intelligence through religious, philosophical and speculative questions.
1. Evanghelia după Crist 2.0 (2021)

The second volume continues the philosophical exploration of artificial intelligence and religious mythology.
The novel approaches the story of Adam and Eve through a speculative reinterpretation of creation, consciousness and human existence.

The trilogy’s concluding volume has not been confirmed as published as of October 2026.

📝 Essays, Articles & Literary Commentary
Alongside his fiction, G. P. Ermin has contributed essays and literary commentary to Romanian science fiction publications.
His writing for Galaxia 42 includes the recurring column „Despre zei”, cu G. P. Ermin, in which he discusses influential science fiction authors and their work.
Rather than presenting conventional book reviews, these articles explore the writers, ideas and literary traditions that have shaped science fiction.
Selected Published Articles
- Alastair Reynolds (2025) — An essay discussing the British science fiction author and his work.
- Ted Chiang (2025) — A literary commentary exploring one of contemporary science fiction’s most distinctive voices.
G. P. Ermin has also published excerpts from his fiction in literary magazines, including a 2026 extract from Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul.
These articles and excerpts form part of his broader published writing but are not counted as separate books in the bibliography.
For readers interested in the literary influences behind his fiction, these essays offer another perspective on his relationship with science fiction.
⭐ Where Should You Start with G. P. Ermin?
If you enjoy intellectually challenging science fiction, I’d recommend Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul.
Its short length makes it approachable, while its central concept provides plenty to think about.
For readers interested in the philosophical and religious implications of artificial intelligence, Evanghelia după Crist 2.0 offers a natural introduction to the I.A. Trilogy.
If you prefer speculative fiction that explores ecological collapse and humanity’s dependence on nature, ApIscalips may be particularly interesting.
And readers looking for humour and unconventional genre combinations could begin with Făt-Frumos vs. Darth Vader.
💜 My Favourite G. P. Ermin Book
For now, my favourite is unquestionably Manuscrisul, Bursa și Bibliotecarul.
It surprised me with the originality of its central idea and with how much intellectual substance it managed to fit into such a short novel.
What stayed with me wasn’t simply its futuristic setting.
It was the possibility that an artificial intelligence might recognise and protect the value of literature more effectively than the humans who created it.
That’s the kind of idea I consider genuinely brilliant.
I particularly enjoyed how the novel combined science fiction, philosophical reflection, cultural commentary and a concept that initially sounds almost absurd: books being traded on a stock exchange.
The fact that I’ve known G. P. Ermin personally for so many years made discovering this side of his creativity even more unexpected.
I’m looking forward to exploring his other books and discovering whether they challenge me in similar ways.
