📚 Daniel Timariu: Complete Bibliography and Publication Guide

Daniel Timariu is a Romanian author of science fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, mystery and crime fiction. His bibliography includes novels, novellas, short-story collections, individual stories, anthology contributions and works published in Romanian and international literary magazines.

Best known for the Tenebre series, Timariu has also developed a substantial body of short fiction exploring speculative technology, unusual futures, supernatural encounters and the complexities of human behaviour.

This BookFairy bibliography covers his identifiable publications through October 2026, distinguishing books from individual stories, original appearances from later republications, and the main Tenebre novels from related shorter fiction.

Daniel Timariu writes primarily in Romanian. Consequently, most of the titles below are original Romanian publications rather than translations of English-language works.

🌑 The Tenebre Series — Reading Order

The Tenebre universe brings supernatural mystery into the streets of Timișoara.

Its central protagonist, private detective Alexandru “Alex” Anghel, investigates cases involving a hidden society of supernatural beings.

The series combines classic detective fiction with urban fantasy and creatures drawn from different mythological and folkloric traditions.

Main Novels

  1. Tenebre. Cazul Laura (2017) — Book 1
  2. Tenebre. Labirintul (2017) — Book 2
  3. Tenebre. Miercuri (2019) — Book 3

Related Tenebre Fiction

  • Ciudatul caz al umbrelor (2018) — a novella set in the Tenebre universe.
  • Octavia (2019) — a related story published in Sub apa dragonului strâmb.
  • Uitarea — a Tenebre-related fantasy story included in 3.7. Povestiri.

The novella Ciudatul caz al umbrelor was published by Tritonic alongside Lucian-Dragoș Bogdan’s Când penele roșii vor plânge. The two texts belong to different fictional universes and should not be mistaken for a single co-written story.

Recommended reading order: Begin with the three main novels in publication order. Ciudatul caz al umbrelor can be read as supplementary Tenebre fiction after the first two novels.

Other related stories can be explored once readers are familiar with the central setting and characters.

Future Tenebre Publications

The author’s website has mentioned work on another Tenebre project, Ferma. However, this is not included among the published novels until a publication can be confirmed.

Amețeli postlumice (2016)

An early collection of speculative short fiction associated with the Helion literary community.

Some stories from this period also appeared in magazines or subsequent anthologies. Those appearances should be understood as separate publications of individual texts, not additional books.

Fete în roșu și alte povestiri polițiste (2016)

A collection of detective and mystery stories featuring inspector Ovidiu Danelescu.

It demonstrates Timariu’s interest in crime fiction beyond the supernatural elements of Tenebre.

Corpuri de închiriat (2025)

A collection bringing together seventeen science-fiction and fantastic stories.

The title story appeared in periodical form before the publication of the collection. The 2025 book is therefore listed separately from those earlier magazine appearances.

📗 Novellas and Shared Volumes

The author’s publication record also lists appearances in Spanish-language online literary publications:

  • Charnabon — Microcuentos y Cuentos.
  • MOFT — Microficciones y Cuentos.
  • Recuerdos de polvo, huellas de tiza y colores de acuarela — Microficciones y Cuentos.

These are international publications or translations of shorter works, not separate novels.

📚 Romanian Editions and Publication Notes

Since Daniel Timariu writes originally in Romanian, his Romanian editions generally represent first-language publications, not translations.

The principal publishers associated with his books are:

  • Eurostampa — Amețeli postlumice.
  • Tritonic — Fete în roșu și alte povestiri polițiste, the Tenebre novels, Ciudatul caz al umbrelor and Un caz de moștenire.
  • Pavcon — Corpuri de închiriat and numerous anthology contributions.
  • Editura Universității de Vest — contributions to literary anthologies, including Trei fotoni în plus.

An anthology’s annual designation does not always match the year in which the physical book appeared. Where the author’s sources identify both, this bibliography favours the documented publication year and mentions the annual designation separately.

Later republications are recorded without presenting them as newly written stories.

📦 Omnibus Editions and Republishing

No omnibus collecting the three main Tenebre novels has been established in the sources consulted for this bibliography.

The two-novella volume containing Ciudatul caz al umbrelor and Când penele roșii vor plânge is a shared publication, not a Tenebre omnibus.

Some shorter texts appear in more than one magazine, anthology or collection. These are identified as later appearances rather than duplicated as distinct works.
