📖 About Alexandru Lamba

Alexandru Lamba (born 1980) is a Romanian writer, editor and science-fiction author whose work spans speculative fiction, fantasy, contemporary literature and graphic storytelling.

Born in Brașov, Romania, Lamba studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and has worked in the IT industry. His technical background is reflected in his early science-fiction writing, which explores technology, humanity, imagined futures and the consequences of scientific progress.

He made his literary debut in 2013 with a short story published in Gazeta SF. He subsequently contributed fiction to Romanian speculative-fiction magazines and anthologies, establishing himself as an active voice in the country’s science-fiction community.

His first novel, Sub steaua infraroșie, appeared in 2016, followed by Arhitecții speranței in 2017. Both were published by Tritonic and helped establish his reputation as a Romanian science-fiction writer.

In 2018, he published Singurătatea singularității, a collection of speculative short fiction, followed in 2019 by Cărări pe gheață, the opening volume of the young-adult science-fantasy series Stele și gheață.

Lamba subsequently expanded beyond traditional science fiction. His 2022 novel Șapte virtuți deșarte și o păcătoasă moarte, published by Litera, marked a move towards contemporary literary fiction, while Azilul meu (Polirom, 2024) continued his exploration of different narrative forms and genres.

In addition to writing novels and short stories, Alexandru Lamba has worked as a literary editor and critic. He served as editor-in-chief of Gazeta SF and later became involved in the editorial team of Galaxia 42, an online Romanian science-fiction and fantasy magazine.

He is also a founding member of the ANTARES Science-Fiction & Fantasy Club in Brașov.
