📖 Erin Hunter Complete Bibliography

Erin Hunter is a collective literary pseudonym associated with some of the most extensive animal fantasy series published for children and young adults. Beginning with Into the Wild in 2003, the first novel in the Warriors universe, the name has grown into a substantial bibliography encompassing multiple generations of fictional characters, separate animal societies, illustrated adventures, companion books and entirely new fictional worlds.

Unlike the bibliography of an individual author, Erin Hunter’s work represents a collaborative publishing project. Writers including Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, Tui T. Sutherland, Gillian Philip and Inbali Iserles have contributed to different series, while editor Victoria Holmes played a central role in developing the original Warriors universe. The collective has evolved over time, and individual writing credits vary between books.

The bibliography is best understood through its separate literary universes. Warriors follows generations of wild cats belonging to organised Clans. Seekers explores the lives of bears, Survivors follows dogs struggling to adapt to a changed world, Bravelands presents animal societies on the African savanna, and Bamboo Kingdom centres on pandas. A further series, Renegades, began in 2026.

This BookFairy bibliography covers publications through October 2026. The novels are organised by universe and publication sequence, with their original release years. Within each series, the books appear in reading order. Graphic novels, novellas, field guides and collected editions are classified separately so that reprints and omnibus volumes are not counted as entirely new stories.

📚 Warriors — Main Novel Series (2003–2026)

Warriors is the largest Erin Hunter fictional universe. Its central storyline consists of successive arcs following different generations of cats, each building upon the events, relationships and traditions established in earlier books.

For first-time readers, publication order is generally preferable to internal historical chronology. Although Dawn of the Clans takes place before the original novels, it was published much later and benefits from the reader’s familiarity with the universe.

  3. The First Battle (2014)
  4. The Blazing Star (2014)

  3. Veil of Shadows (2020)
  4. Darkness Within (2020)
  5. The Place of No Stars (2021)

  1. The Elders’ Quest (2025)
  2. Hidden Moon (2025)
  3. Chasing Shadows (2026)
  4. Guiding Light (2026)

Later instalments belong in the forthcoming publications section until released.

The nine arcs above form the main prose-novel sequence. The Super Editions, novellas and graphic novels are companion publications rather than additional numbered volumes of these arcs. The series classification and sequence follow the official Warrior Cats catalogue. Warrior Cats+2

📕 Warriors — Super Editions (2007–2026)

The Super Editions are longer companion novels focusing on specific characters and events. They expand the history of the Clans, sometimes revisiting earlier periods or exploring developments that take place between the main arcs.

The following titles are listed in original publication order:

For readers approaching the universe for the first time, the official chronological reading guide provides more detailed placement for these companion novels. Warrior Cats+1

🖼️ Warriors — Manga and Graphic Novels

The illustrated Warriors stories are an important part of the bibliography. They include original adventures focusing on familiar characters as well as more recent graphic novel adaptations of the principal books.

The original manga-style publications should not be confused with the later full-colour adaptations of the main novel arcs.

📘 Warriors — Field Guides and Companion Reference Books

Alongside its fiction, Warriors has a range of illustrated and reference-style guides covering Clan history, characters, traditions, leadership and important conflicts.

First publicationTitle

2009Code of the Clans
2010Battles of the Clans

2023The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded Edition

Enter the Clans combines earlier field-guide material. The expanded Ultimate Guide revises an existing reference book rather than forming a new fictional storyline.

These companion publications are especially useful for readers who want to explore the background of the Clan societies without necessarily following every novel in publication order.

🐻 Seekers — Complete Series (2008–2016)

  6. The Final Battle (2019)

Survivors Companion Novellas

The wider universe also contains shorter fiction, including Alpha’s Tale, Sweet’s Journey and Moon’s Choice. These stories are collected in Tales from the Packs (2015), which should not be counted as an additional main-series novel.

The two six-book prose arcs are intended to be read in publication sequence, with The Gathering Darkness continuing the story established by the original series. goodreads.com+2

🦁 Bravelands — Complete Series (2017–2024)

Bravelands moves the Erin Hunter approach to the African savanna, where lions, elephants, baboons and other animals inhabit interconnected communities. The series explores the relationships between different species, leadership, ecological balance and the consequences of conflict.

1. Bravelands — Original Series (2017–2020)

  1. Broken Pride (2017)
  2. Code of Honor (2018)
  3. Blood and Bone (2018)
  4. Shifting Shadows (2019)
  5. The Spirit-Eaters (2020)
  6. Oathkeeper (2020)

2. Bravelands — Curse of the Sandtongue (2021–2022)

  1. Shadows on the Mountain (2021)
  2. The Venom Spreads (2022)

These three arcs form the principal Bravelands narrative and should be read in the order shown above. FictionDB+1

🐼 Bamboo Kingdom — Complete Series (2021–2025)

Bamboo Kingdom follows pandas whose lives are disrupted by natural disaster and conflict. The books explore separation, family relationships, unfamiliar territories and the difficult choices involved in rebuilding a sense of home.

The series consists of six novels:

  1. Creatures of the Flood (2021)
  2. River of Secrets (2022)
  3. Journey to the Dragon Mountain (2023)
  4. The Dark Sun (2023)
  5. The Lightning Path (2024)
  6. Fire and Ash (2025)

The six titles form a complete sequential storyline, rather than separate arcs or unrelated standalone adventures. FictionDB+1

✨ Renegades — New Series (2026–)

Renegades is another series published under the Erin Hunter pseudonym, beginning in 2026.

The first published volume is:

1. The Magic Awakens (2026)

The second novel, The Broken City, is scheduled for November 2026. As this bibliography is dated October 2026, it is listed under forthcoming publications rather than included among books already released.

This series is kept separate from Warriors, Seekers, Survivors, Bravelands and Bamboo Kingdom. fantasticfiction.com+1

🤝 Collective Authorship and Writing Credits

Because Erin Hunter is a shared pseudonym, the books should not automatically be attributed to one individual writer. The authorship history involves several contributors working on different series and at different stages of the publishing project.

Victoria Holmes played a major role in developing the original Warriors concept, planning storylines and coordinating the continuity of the early books. Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry wrote many of the original Warriors novels, while Tui T. Sutherland contributed to the broader Erin Hunter bibliography, including Seekers.

Gillian Philip and Inbali Iserles are associated with Survivors, while later books under the Erin Hunter name have involved additional writers. Contributions by writers such as Clarissa Hutton and Rosie Best illustrate how the collective has continued evolving beyond its original team.

The graphic novel projects also involve separately credited writers and illustrators. For example, Graystripe’s Adventure was scripted by Dan Jolley, with artwork by James L. Barry.

These distinctions matter because Erin Hunter is the publishing identity, not evidence that every book was written by the same person. Individual contributor credits should be recorded when they can be established from publisher information or authoritative bibliographic sources.

📦 Omnibus Editions, Collected Volumes and Reprints

The Erin Hunter bibliography contains numerous collected editions. These are particularly important for Warriors, where shorter stories and graphic novel trilogies have been republished together.

The following editions are collected publications, not additional original stories.

Collection or editionContents / distinction
Warriors: Graystripe’s AdventureComplete three-volume graphic novel trilogy, later available in full colour
Warriors: Tigerstar and SashaComplete three-volume illustrated trilogy
Warriors: Ravenpaw’s PathComplete three-volume illustrated trilogy
Warriors: SkyClan and the StrangerComplete three-volume illustrated trilogy
The Rise of Scourge — Full ColorColour edition of the original graphic novel
Enter the ClansCombines earlier reference material
The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded EditionExpanded revision of an earlier guide
The Untold Stories and subsequent novella collectionsThree shorter prose works per volume
Main-series box setsPreviously published novels packaged together

The full-colour editions often introduce a new visual presentation, but they do not change the original publication dates of the underlying stories.

For collectors, the distinction between an original single-volume edition and a three-in-one collected edition is especially useful. It prevents accidentally buying the same story twice simply because it appears under a different cover or in a different format.

🇷🇴 Romanian Translations and Editions

The Romanian publication history of Erin Hunter is substantial, particularly for Warriors, published as Pisicile Războinice through Editura ALL and its Galaxia Copiilor imprint.

Other Erin Hunter Series in Romanian

The Seekers and Survivors universes have also been marketed to Romanian readers under titles associated with Exploratorii and Supraviețuitorii.

However, a complete volume-by-volume Romanian translation catalogue, with publisher and publication year verified for every title, has not been established here. Rather than invent Romanian titles or presume the entire English sequences were translated, those works remain listed under their original English names until the individual editions are verified.

The same restriction applies to Romanian editions of Bravelands, Bamboo Kingdom and Renegades.

🐈 Warriors: Graystripe’s Adventure (2007–2008)

My BookFairy review covers the three graphic novels following Graystripe’s journey. I enjoyed the adventure and particularly appreciated the way the books encouraged me to think about cats’ sense of smell, their orientation and their ability to recognise home.
