📖 About This Bibliography
Florin Pîtea is a Romanian science fiction and fantasy writer, translator and literary scholar whose work encompasses cyberpunk, steampunk, speculative fiction, short stories, academic criticism and translations.
His literary career began in 1992, when he published his first story in Colecția de Povestiri Științifico-Fantastice Anticipația. Since then, his writing has appeared in books, magazines, almanacs and anthologies.
This bibliography brings together his principal books, individually published fiction, non-fiction, academic work and literary translations.
Works are organised by their first known publication, with later editions and republications identified separately wherever possible.
Because much of Pîtea’s early fiction appeared in Romanian periodicals, the original Romanian titles have been retained.

🇷🇴 Romanian Publications and Edition Notes
Because Florin Pîtea is primarily a Romanian-language writer, most of his fiction was originally published in Romanian.
For this reason, the Romanian edition information differs from bibliographies of English-language authors: these are original editions, not Romanian translations of foreign-language originals.
| Work | Original Romanian Edition | Edition Note |
|---|---|---|
| Necropolis | QED, 2001 | Amaltea reprint, 2004 |
| An/Organic | Amaltea, 2004 | Original edition |
| Gangland | Diasfera, 2006 | Original edition |
| Anul terminal | Tracus Arte, 2012 | Original edition |
| Delirul încapsulat | Crux Publishing, 2015 | Original edition |
| Motorul de căutare | Crux Publishing, 2020 | Original edition |
| Fierul și fiara | Crux Publishing, 2022 | Original edition |
A later printing, revised edition or bundled set is not counted as a separate original title unless it contains a genuinely distinct work.
📦 Omnibus Editions, Reprints and Collections
An omnibus edition combines previously published works. It should be distinguished from an original collection of individual short stories.
Confirmed distinctions:
- Necropolis (2004) — Second edition of the 2001 collection, not a new title.
- Cartea cu scoarțe de argint, ferecate — two-volume set — A collected sales format for Delirul încapsulat and Motorul de căutare, not a third volume.
- Individual magazine stories — Their later inclusion in Necropolis, An/Organic or anthologies does not change their original publication dates.
No additional distinct omnibus work is counted here without bibliographic confirmation.
🏆 Literary Recognition
Florin Pîtea has received recognition within the Romanian science fiction community.
Among his distinctions are:
- ARSFan recognition for Shai Tan, published in 1994.

- Awards associated with his later writing, including recognition for the Cartea cu scoarțe de argint, ferecate project.
- Motorul de căutare received a Vladimir Colin Award in 2023.
These awards relate to specific works and should not be interpreted as separate publications.

💭 Final Thoughts
Florin Pîtea’s bibliography demonstrates the breadth of his contribution to Romanian speculative fiction.
His career extends well beyond individual novels, taking in decades of short-story publication, cyberpunk experimentation, steampunk fiction, academic research, literary criticism and translation.
For readers interested in the history of Romanian science fiction, this variety is especially valuable. It shows how international literary influences were interpreted and developed within Romania’s own science fiction magazines, anthologies and publishing traditions.
From the early stories gathered in Necropolis to the more expansive worlds of his later collections, Pîtea’s work offers several different paths into speculative literature.
This bibliography will continue to be updated as additional publications and reliable bibliographical details are confirmed.
